August 2002 - XM496 progress

Work on cleaning the external surfaces of XM496 is due to begin this Autumn. Scafolding will be erected around the forward fuselage, and a canvas will be placed over the top for protection during the process.
The brakes are currently being overhauled at Brize Norton
.

July 2002 - 50th Aniversary celebrations

The first flight of the Britannia prototype, G-ALBO, took place at 17:32 hrs on 16th August 1952. To celebrate the event, the BAPT will be hosting a barbeque at Kemble Airfield on Friday 16th August 2002. It is hoped to gather as many Britannia flight crew, cabin crew, engineers and ground crew as possible.
